There are so many things you must do to make your racing experience a success, it is hard to list them in any order. In this article I would like to address maintenance. This is most likely the most important factor.....to finish first, first you must finish.
I have found that cleaning after each race day helps with dependability. While cleaning you may notice broken parts, worn parts or even something that had been overlooked. Service the bearings, if they get rough, replace them. Make sure your drivetrain rolls free, all the arms move freely. No drag in them at all, and see that they drop evenly.
Shock oil should be changed at least every 2 events.
When installing fasteners that thread into metal parts, use Blue Loctite. You can use a small amount of super glue when threading into plastic.
Set up and tweek boards are a must. Be sure your machine will turn left the same as it turns right. Check your ride height! Not too high, not too low.
In an attempt to not drag on, do your homework. Understand your radio, machine & rules. Only the question you don't ask a Rose City Scale Racing member is dumb. When you ask us a question, we will answer, but you might want to take notes. Sometimes you may forget something that is important.
