Fellow Racers:

Much thanks and congratulations to all involved in yesterdays race! We had 2 electric classes and 2 nitro classes perform with 3 full heats and mains. The 1/10 Nitro Sedans ran a 30 minute main, and the spectators from the IBEW loved it! All participants should all feel proud regarding the event in terms of promoting our hobby. A special thanks to Peter, Kody and Michael for making the trek down from up north. You presense was a welcome plus to our day.

Rose Cities own Dave Erhlich celebrated a birthday at the race. However, his TQ was rewarded with charges of Contest of Speed, Reckless Endangerment and Speeding by Portland Police. Fortunately charges were dropped, allowing him to compete and win the main event.

We will see everyone again on July 5th for our next club race.

Thanks to all who showed for our first event of the season. With close to 20 committed racers attending, I know we are on track (no pun intended) for a great time this summer.

Track set-up started at 7:30am and early on a decision was made to run an extra long practice with an abbreviated 2-qual program. Track preparation completed by about 9:30, with practice running until noon. The mains were shortened by some passing showers, which moved up tear down as well. The trailer was packed and everyone heading for the barn by 4:00PM.

The Trans-am class was awesome! What a great way to get started in gas, growing our group in the process. We really needed an entry-level nitro class and this looks perfect. The rules will continue to be refined, but as a no competition class changes remain geared (sorry about that one) for improvement. Congrats to Richard Donavon on his successful run.
